Health Center Receives EarthCraft Certification

The new Harrisonburg Community Health Center has received its EarthCraft Light Commercial certification recognizing environmentally responsible design. Designed by Blue Ridge Architects and built by Harman Construction, Harrisonburg Community Health Center is the first health center and the largest light commercial building in the country to receive this certification to date. The center is certified under the Pilot Program and is the third building in the state of Virginia to be certified.

The EarthCraft Light Commercial Program focuses on small-scale commercial buildings and promotes smart growth, resource efficiency, sustainable building practices, and healthier working environments.

A project must meet all program requirements, participate in on-site inspections, pass envelope and duct leakage performance tests and achieve a minimum number of points to achieve certification.

Harrisonburg Community Health Center was awarded this certification on September 19, 2012.
